Good food and good company is certainly one of the most enjoyable experiences in life. While I cannotguaranteeyou good company, unless of course I am invited along, there are several establishments that provide the good food part of the equation that I have found this year. I may be a bit bold to presume you will hold the same view but I believe our friendship has reached a point where I would be remiss if I did not share these delightful places with you so they may tempt to partake.
1. Belfords Savannah – Savannah definitely has the hipster vibe. You know what I am talking about. The kids riding around on single gear road bikes wearing straw fedoras, jorts, etc. But Belford’s is not a pop culture flash in the pan (sorry hipsters, one day you will be just like the rest of us). Unbelievable service, great atmosphere, and the food is incredible. It was so good that I had it twice in one week. If you have been to Savannah recently you know that was not because there is a short list of good places to go. Try the crab cakes and you will understand what I am talking about.
2. Gramercy Tavern (http://www.gramercytavern.com/mobile/) – New York. All I can say is this place is cool. You may say to yourself “the definition of cool is quite spongy and @pjc21 judgment may be suspect”. On this one I am right. If you don’t believe me just ask @knyxtah. Maybe it’s the staff, maybe it’s the decor, maybe it’s the location. Irrespective, you will not regret checking it out.
3. Linger Longer Steakhouse (http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/ReynoldsPlantation/Dining/LingerLongerBarGrill/Default.htm) – Lake Oconee. I have never recommended a restaurant in a hotel before and I am not breaking that precedent with this place but I am walking a fine line. Linger Longer is on Ritz Carlton’s Reynolds Plantation property and is about 200 hundred yards from the hotel. The distance is key as you will only have to roll yourself a short distance back to your room. It’s a casual atmosphere for a steakhouse but that certainly does not undermine the quality or complexity of the food. Chef David White hits it out of the park (ask about his herb gardens). Might I be so bold to suggest the clams & muscles appetizer and the bone-in ribeye find their way onto your menu that evening. Oh yeah, randomly during our meal they brought out cotton candy. What’s not to love?
