Due to the constant cajoling of @Atltsx and @MatthewLDonald I took up golf a few years back. Then fatherhood, a house, and the inheritance of a large Greek shipping empire absconded with all my free time. As such, my participation in the sport is relegated primarily to conjuring up distant memories that twinkle a bit more dimly with the ebb and flow of time’s tide just as the lighthouse’ comforting beacon is slowly extinguished from the sight of the seaward bound ship. That last sentence may be overly dramatic but it did allow for shameless cross promotion to another post and had some nice sea themes woven throughout. While hardly as good as the real thing I did want to pass along Mr. Churchill’s observations on the sport which, from what I recall, remain highly accurate.
“Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.”
