I have started watching Mad Men. One portion of the show which is entirely incidental to the whole but that I find fascinating is the artwork for the latest advertising campaign dreamed up by the genius folks at Sterling Cooper. It had not dawned on me previously that there must have been a massive amount of functional art generated during WWII. I immediately plunged myself into the deep archives of the Library of Congress with Don Draper like intensity to expose myself to this brave new world and thought it would be reprehensible to keep it to myself. These are a few of my favorites.
